This plot of latitude and temperature displays the conventional wisdom that temperature increases as you approach the equator (0 degrees latitude). Temperatures above 90 degrees farenheit (90F) are observed almost exclusively between -20 and 20 degrees latitude. Extremely low temperatures (below 20F) are highly concentrated in cities in the northern hemisphere between 40 and 80 degrees latitude. No cities in the southern hemisphere reported temperatures below 40F. The distribution of cold temperatures is likely influenced by date, as these observations were taken in November when the northern hemisphere is closer to winter and the southern hemisphere closer to summer.
